Brian Wallheimer is the editor-in-chief for Financial Planning magazine. He has a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a master’s degree in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois Springfield. His journalism and marketing careers have taken him from covering small town and state government to wealth management, science and the largest casinos in the world.

Brian has three children, the oldest of which is almost a teenager and acts as though she’s been one for a while now. He keeps them active in music (piano and ukulele), soccer, hiking and the occasional run. Brian is a runner himself and has logged at least two dozen half marathons.

With a passion for his community, Brian founded and ran the Focus Rockford photo competition for two years, has volunteered to read in Rockford Public Schools, was active in Transform Rockford and now hopes to make a difference for those with autism in the Rockford region.
